Are you planning to leave the printing industry within the next 5 or 10 years? Do you know what your company is worth? Do you have a company succession plan? These are some of the questions being asked by Printing Industries to determine the need for an industry specific succession planning model.

Printing Industries CEO Philip Andersen said that anecdotally succession planning was in the minds of many people as the industry continued to evolve and consolidate.

“We also have an ageing company ownership demographic and many family based companies, all of which highlight the importance of having a succession plan model in place to help those owners thinking about retirement or exiting the industry,” he said.

“Research we undertook in 2005 highlighted many of these issues including the fact that a high proportion of business owners have failed to plan for their industry exit or business succession.

“These results have convinced us of the need to help companies manage the succession planning process to enable those planning to exit the industry to do so in a profitable and sustainable manner.”

Mr Andersen said Printing Industries had been investigating a number of options for an industry specific succession planning program.

“So that we can fully understand the succession needs of company owners we have prepared an on-line succession planning questionnaire. This is accessible on the survey link at www.survey.cibis.com.au/piaa

“Please take a few minutes to complete the survey. It will give us the information necessary to build a model to help you develop your own succession plan for when you need it,” he said.

The survey will close on Friday 5 October 2007.
