Mactac proudly announced its REBEL X-treme permanent application print media has received the Specialty Graphic Imaging Association’s (SGIA) 2017 Product of the Year Award in the ‘Media – Adhesive Back Vinyl’ category.

The annual awards program is known to showcase some of the most innovative and useful new technologies and materials for an expanding variety of print applications. According to SGIA, the competition spotlights products that are moving imaging forward and making a difference in the way imagers do business.mactac sgia

“REBEL X-treme hit the market in 2016, and as a first-of-its-kind solution, it’s been paving the way for an entirely new graphic application space,” says Jeff Stadelman, marketing manager, Mactac distributor products. “With exceptional printability, versatility and performance, it is uniquely engineered as a no-fail solution for challenging applications that require a permanent adhesive bond. We couldn’t be more pleased with the product’s success and consider it an honor to have been chosen by SGIA’s judges for this coveted award.”

REBEL X-treme (RB528X) is a 4.0-mil adhesive-backed media that features a specially blended, clear pressure-sensitive adhesive. It is designed to permanently bond to difficult substrates including low-surface energy plastics, smooth to moderately rough indoor and outdoor concrete surfaces or cinder block walls, pebbled surfaces such as trashcans and storage bins, powder-coated paint, stainless steel, nameplates and more.

It can also be used for critical permanent applications that may require tamper resistance.

REBEL X-treme has ultimate high-tack adhesion with 7-pound quick tacks and reaches up to 10-pounds peel in bond strength on typical surfaces. The adhesive is protected with Mactac’s 90# polycoated two-sided SuperFlat release liner and the facestock features a 99 percent opaque, blue-white PVC film, which delivers incredibly high levels of color and brightness when printed.

As with all REBEL products, the award-winning REBEL X-treme is compatible with nearly all printing platforms, including latex, UV inkjet, solvent, eco-solvent, solvent and UV screen-printing, UV flexographic and UV off-set, and thermal transfer.

Additionally, it is part of Mactac’s trusted Open Image Warranty, which includes any combination of approved printer, ink and laminate or clear coat used with Mactac graphic media.

Awards were presented and displayed at the 2017 SGIA Expo in New Orleans in October. More than 70 companies competed in the program with 222 entries submitted across the competition’s 49 categories, which SGIA noted as the largest field of competitors in the program’s history.
