Artist Rebecca Brady used Terralon Dreamscape Wallpaper from Ricky Richards to brighten up The Eye Clinic at Westmead Children’s Hospital in Sydney’s west.

Brady, from Rathenart Designs, contacted Michael Smith, business development manager in Ricky Richards Print Media division, after the clinic commissioned her to create art to freshen up its front counter area and treatment rooms. She was looking for printable products that were safe to use in a hospital environment.

The Ricky Terralon Dreamscape Wallpaper suggested by Smith allowed her to create an underwater wonderland where children become  immersed in an imaginary world. Brady felt she made the perfect product choice, with her designs printed on sustainable, PVC free, breathable Terralon wallpaper, made from 31% post-consumer recycled content.

Brady also designed the front counter in the clinic, a fantasy scene with hidden animals and enchanting landscapes. Ricky Richards’ Grafityp GEFUV was used as the printable media for the counter.  GEFUV is a seamless soft white matte environment-friendly chlorine- and PVC free self-adhesive.

As a mixed media artist, Brady works with digital collages and mixed media to create designs that tell a story. Her artworks are detailed and complex, fusing colour in multi layers. She says her love for patterns and design was inspired by her grandmother from an early age. “That has continued to light a fire in me.”

Signwerx did the printing and Mister Wallpaper installed the media.

Brady said her client was thrilled with the result. And so was Smith and the team at Ricky. “We love seeing what our printable media products are used for," he said. "This is another wonderful project completed with our sustainable products.”
