Adding to the growing list of printers who prepaid the entirety, or deposits, on Zünd and Epson equipment, Wide Format Online was contacted by Sydney Print Media, claiming 'us too' - upgrade kits ordered and prepaid but never delivered.

Karl Sun's business Sydney Print Media is the latest victim of undelivered equipment, prepaid for to Starleaton (in administration). An estimated $30,000 was prepaid for Zünd upgrade parts but were never recieved from Starleaton. Sydney Print Media operates three Zünd cutters, including the latest Zünd G3 L3200, with extra long feed and delivery tables and Zünd’s automatic Board Handling System (BHS), which allows automatic board pick-up direct off the pallet, cutting followed by automated off-loading and re-stacking.

Instead, according to National Sales Director David Walsh: " I was disturbed reading your article about Starleaton, and how it has affected these sign businesses. More distressing is that we find ourselves in the same situation, we paid upfront for a Zünd Upgrade kit, and we have heard all the same excuses (for non-delivery), and are yet to recieve anything. We have also had to contact Zünd directly, and they have been fantastic to deal with. But like everyone else we are out of pocket. I wanted to share our story. "

This brings to six the identified printers who were asked to pre-pay for Zünd machines or parts upgrades; plus one more who prepaid for an Epson printer, promised but so far not delivered. These transactions are not typical insolvency administration creditor debts, in that the businesses were not providing credit to Starleation - they were paying for equipment under contracts of sale. The sum total appears to be in the region of one million dollars.SPM building
