The much hyped Memjet technology has finally been launched in wide format width by Xanté at Graph Expo with the Excelagraphix 4200, a 42 inch printer.

Excelagraphix 4200 uses an array of five overlapping 8.77" Memjet Waterfall printheads, each containing 70,400 nozzles, to generate 3 billion drops of ink per second which Xanté claim will deliver speeds up to eight times faster than traditional inkjet technology.

We do now know yet what type of inks the machines uses but we are told that the ink is supplied in CMYKK colours and can print on a wide range of substrates in sheet sizes up to 42 x 100 inches.

Frank Romano, RIT Professor Emeritus, respected industry writer said that the Excelagraphix 4200 changes everything the market knows about high speed wide format printing because it prints high impact, full colour, large format pieces on a wide range of substrates at "screaming fast" speeds, and at a price point that's affordable for a fast ROI. The product is the first commercial solution in the world specifically powered by Memjet wide format colour printing components and technologies.

Robert Ross, Xanté CEO. "The industry has been watching to see what Memjet would do, and Xanté is honoured to be part of an event that is breaking ground and has the capacity to significantly alter the production landscape for the better, and for the long term."

"We're utilising two particular Xanté technologies: iQueue Color Smart Worfklow, and our unique handling of diverse substrates, to create what will likely be the fastest and, in terms of lower capital and operational costs, most efficient ways to print colour."

Memjet this year has announced OEM partnerships with Lenovo and LG Electronics, among others. Memjet's technologies are also the recipient of the 2011 InterTech Technology Award from the Printing Industries of America.

More information on this machine as it becomes available.

Quickprint Technologies in Victoria represent certain Xanté products but it has yet to be confirmed if they will be distributing the Excelagraphix 4200 in our region.
