Speedy Signs in East Tamaki, South Auckland, is the first established signage franchise in the Speedy Signs group (known as Sign-a-Rama in Australia) to install a new HP Designjet L25500. Franchisee Brent Neighbour, who has owned the East Tamaki business since 2003, said the new Latex ink machine is the company’s first HP large format printer. “We’ve used a few other brands and when our last machine came to the end of its useful life we decided to look at the HP Designjet”.

SpeedySignsPhotoBrent said the fact that the franchise group as a whole had chosen the HP Designjet L25500 partly influenced his decision, but he also explored his options working with HP Channel Partner Jenrite.

“We settled on the HP Designjet L25500 because of its quality, speed and the fact that prints come out dry,” he said. “We print a large volume of vehicle graphics on self-adhesive vinyl. Having the print come off the printer dry makes an enormous difference to turnaround times as we can apply the graphics immediately. This can literally save us days on each job.”

He continued. “Another good thing with this machine is that we can use media that we couldn’t print on before. This means we can print posters very cost effectively”
.
Brent believes the HP Designjet L25500 will also enable the company to introduce new products such as wallpapers. “At the moment the bulk of what we produce are adhesive vinyl products, but we are definitely interested in trying new products, like the wallpaper and we’ve already started preliminary testing”.

Speedy Signs East Tamaki announced its new printing capabilities on its Facebook page with positive results. “I did a whole spiel on the printer on our Facebook page and we’ve had good feedback. Now we have a greener solution we are able to push those benefits too and use it as a selling point,” said Brent.

Jenrite supplied and installed the printer at the end of June. “Relationships, that’s why we bought the printer from Jenrite,” says Brent. “Even though we weren’t buying a lot of product the Jenrite sales rep regularly dropped in and built up a good rapport with us, so it was an easy decision to work with Jenrite when it came to buying the printer. Jenrite installed the machine when they said they were going to and they’ve helped us with the Onyx RIP and also the media profiles. We really appreciate their service”.
