Starleaton’s STL light-blocking wide format media now in heavier weights.
“So many great outdoor and even indoor advertising campaigns produced using wide-format printers on vinyl and film are ruined because they end up against the light,” observes Director of Starleaton Digital Solutions Gary Smith.

“Backlight in the form of the Sun, spotlights or a window washes out the colours, projects shadows and makes the message hard to appreciate when it shines through unprotected materials.”

Starleaton’s STL (Satin Textured Lightblock) is now available in several thicknesess to address this problem. Winner of the SGIA 2010 ‘Product of the Year’ in the Film Media category, STL is made by HydroSol in the UK and has an ant-static, lightblocking grey backing while delivering a bright white printable front for vibrant graphics.

The expanded range includes:
180 micron in 914mm and 1270mm
230 micron in 914mm
385mm in 900mm and 1350mm

“It’s great for pull-up banners,” says Smith, “because you never know when there will be a window or exhibition lighting behind. STL is also water-resistant and non-curling and, being Polyester-based, is more eco-friendly than vinyl.”

STL lightblock is suitable for True Solvent, Eco-Solvent, UV-Curable and also Latex printing. The new heavier weights are in Starleaton’s warehouses now.
