In our earlier item on the VI/Pacprint show we mentioned Mimaki’s announcement that they have opened a dedicated Mimaki company in Sydney (Rydalmere) but we did not mention the large display of products that were on show since we thought we would be shooting a video of their stand that would have included that information.
We asked Mr Hiroshi Okino, the new Mimaki managing director to take us around the stand in order to shoot a video, as we have done for most other companies and we agreed a set time, however he had to cancel that meeting due to an urgent client meeting. Unfortunately we ran out of time to allocate new time.

The company had a large stand with most of the company’s latest releases on show and being demonstrated. Included were the JFX500-2131, The TS500 – 1800, The JV400 LX series, JV400 SUV series, the CG-SRIII series.
The JFX500-2131 is a grand format UV flatbed printer with LED curing and multiple ink options. With printing speeds up to 60 square meters per hour and incorporating a brand-new print head and LED curing, it brings new efficiency, quality and price/performance to the sign & graphics industry and wide format display marketplace. It is capable of high resolution image quality that can produce legible fonts as small as 2 points.
The TS500-1800 has an unrivalled speed of 150 square meters per hour, it is the world’s fastest printer for transfer paper and is ideal for the textile market.
The JV400LX Latex printer supports the world’s first white latex ink. Mimaki clam that the new latex ink “LX101” achieves an even more vivid, higher image quality by improving glossiness and increasing the density of black ink. In addition, six-colour process printing becomes available by adding Orange and Green inks to the standard 4-colour setup (CMYK), thus delivering higher colour reproduction and a wider colour gamut.
The JV400SUV won the Large Format Printing award at the recent Viscom show in Germany.
Operating with a new generation of ink that combines the flexibility of solvent-based inks with the durability of UV curing inks, this new printer can achieve print speeds of up to 18 square metres per hour.
During the printing process, the solvent in the ink is absorbed by the receiving layer of the media and the pigment is thus anchored in the substrate. The UV unit cures the printed ink, which provides the completed print with a smooth and shiny surface.
The prints are very scratch resistant, weatherproof and immediately dry. In addition, the inks retain their intensity. The JV400-130/160SUV model achieves a print speed of up to 18 square metres per hour.
